Perhaps people should revive the old Southern State’s pronunciation of negro: ‘negra’ which is I believe where the term now looked down upon came from. And why is it negros seem to be free to use the ‘offensive’ term while the rest of us are not? Pretty soon the word negro will be banned and then what do we call them……’blacks’ or ‘people of colour’? When I grew up in London the early nineteen fifties the term ‘blacks’ was frowned upon and my father often castigated me for saying it telling me they were ‘coloureds’ which I now believe is considered offensive to negros. When people have a chip on their collective shoulders there is no way you can win.

Sticks and stones are dangerous whatever you think of them, but, if you are rational, you choose whether tics hurt you.
