Four days ago, my husband & I were having lunch in a small restaurant. One table for two was occupied by an older man (likely the father) & an adolescent boy, who was approximately 15 years old. The boy was profoundly autistic - playing with objects meant for a toddler, continually flicking his ears with his fingers, & having random nonsensical loud outbursts, while backing his chair into the chair occupied behind him. It was truly heartbreaking, not to mention, making for a very uncomfortable environment for everyone else in the restaurant. I kept thinking that this child was one of thousands just like him. Not only is his life completely ruined, but the lives of his parents & other immediate family members are too, for they cannot go anywhere without making provisions for his care in their even temporary absence or taking him along, to the detriment of everyone else in his midst. To keep denying the obvious connection between vaccines, which are largely unnecessary, & all degrees of autism, is truly criminal - yet no one is taken to task for this travesty.
I’m glad it’s getting new attention however we literally knew this 25 years ago.
