Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche has a DVM from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and a PhD degree in Virology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He has held adjunct faculty appointments at universities in Belgium and Germany. After his career in Academia, he worked for several vaccine companies (GSK Biologicals, Novartis Vaccines, Solvay Biologicals) in various roles in vaccine R&D as well as in late vaccine development. He has also worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Health Discovery team in Seattle (USA) and for the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) in Geneva as Senior Ebola Program Manager. He also represented GAVI in fora with other partners, including WHO, to review the progress on the fight against Ebola and build plans for global pandemic preparedness.
In this video interview dr. Vanden Bossche discusses how continuing vaccination as was done during the pandemic can actually make things worse. He also points out that mass vaccination during the pandemic is not a good strategy, because it creates new variants of the virus.
