Let's Map It Together: How Did We Fight the Virus?
Citing science, societies that thought of themselves as democratic imposed brutal rules to limit the spread of the coronavirus, enforced by threat and force of the state.
A policeman chases a man jogging along a beautiful and empty sandy beach because the rules designed to prevent the spread of the virus do not allow running in the fresh air. In another place, the mother of a toddler who refuses to wear a mask is arrested in a shop. But when people protest against the silly mask rule and are not wearing them, the police are at hand to detain them and use brute force to mask them. There have been far too many examples of this kind of uncanny behaviour in the past three years. Cafés refusing to ask for a vaccine passport were closed down by the police force, young athletes were told to wear masks during training and competitions, hospitals refused to treat people who had not been vaccinated, sometimes to the point of talking of their overload while in fact recording dance videos, etc.
As we know, the justification given for all of this was 'science'. Except that the 'science' of this was constantly changing, often enough not based on any facts, but as a label to help the authorities justify quite anything.
In order to grasp the absurdity of what was happening, it is necessary to look at it again from the present distance. In this article, we gather video and photo footage of how governments in different countries used force to get people to obey their excessive rules and justified the need for these rules in even more inappropriate ways.
Please help us! If you can think of any absurd examples of how the nonsensical rules were justified or enforced to fight the coronavirus, please post a link in the comments section below.
Why is such an overview important? We need to remember these things so as not to let them happen again. It is also a question of responsibility. It is obvious that a virus will not be eradicated by the state force. Measures imposed by state coercion, such as requiring vaccine passports, mask mandates, closing down public spaces, restricting communication between healthy people, etc., could not hence have had any significant effect against the spread of the virus, as the virus spread regardless of anyone’s wishes. Although it is even clearer in retrospect that there was no evidence-based justification – scientific or factual – for the policies that trampled personal freedoms underfoot, no one at any level has yet been held accountable. Neither the modellers, justifiers, nor enforcers of these policies have been held accountable. Neither has anyone apologised to the people who suffered under the coercive measures. Perhaps that is another reason why this review is necessary – to see what those in positions of authority should actually be responsible for.
For the first article in the series, we start with 10 highlights.
Mask up or be forced to!
An X user highlighted a photo of police officers forcing a mask on a protester. The photo was taken in September 2020 at a protest against the lockdown policy in Melbourne, Australia.
Here is also a news story of the same protest:
You have to keep the distance!
A video from a funeral in October 2020. A crematorium in Milton Keynes, UK, meticulously observed the mask mandate and social distancing. As the sons put their chairs next to their mother's at their father's funeral and begin to comfort her, a crematorium worker appears, interrupts the memorial service, and orders everyone to keep their distance.
No jogging allowed
As you can see in the video below, the police were not always able to enforce those rules. A guy jogging on an empty beach is just in significantly better shape than the officer who came to stop him. The video was probably filmed in 2020 in Italy.
Police using excessive force
Here's another typical example of Australian police behaviour from July 2021. Shopkeepers in the Australian town of Bowral failed to comply with 'health regulations', i.e. they wanted shop visitors not to wear masks, even though the government had imposed a mask mandate. The police decided to deal with the matter robustly.
Movie stars for vaccine mandates
Film and TV stars largely contributed to the general normalisation and justification of vaccine coercion. In an interview in October 2021, renowned film actor George Clooney speaks about why he supports the introduction of a mandatory vaccine requirement on film sets.
F1 drivers promoting vaccines
Vaccines were promoted by athletes. Here's a video published in December 2021, in which Formula 1 drivers encourage everyone to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Vaccine promotion for children
Vaccines were also marketed through children's programmes. This clip from the popular children's show Sesame Street was published in June 2022. It promotes the possibility of vaccinating children under the age of 5, claiming that this will prevent health risks. This is regardless of the fact that Covid-19 never posed any serious risks to children's health. The same cannot be said about vaccines.
Police’s brutal handling of protesters
Excessive police force to disperse protests against unreasonable rules was used in many countries. Here is an example of Dutch police behaviour in January 2022 in Amsterdam. Because of brutality, age restrictions apply to the video, and therefore YouTube does not allow embedding it here.
The “science” is changing
It is also important to note what the people who appeared on TV as experts said and how their stories changed. Each country has had its own TV scientists pushing the vaccines and arguing for the need for restrictions. Here is, for example, a video montage of vaccine scientist Peter Hotez and the constant and embarrassing change, not to say lying, in his messages.
Let’s dance!
Somehow, the pandemic was accompanied by doctor-nurse dance exercises in hospitals that were supposed to be overwhelmed with patients. Here is one video compilation of those dance routines.
